Esta investigación analiza las prácticas de lectoescritura y estrategias de aprendizaje desarrolladas por los jóvenes lectores en relación con estos libros. Partiendo de un enfoque cualitativo, y empleando metodología etnográfica, el artículo recupera las experiencias y percepciones de estudiantes de colegios distritales de Bogotá, cruzándolas con los testimonios de mediadores, como editores y profesores, para comprender el proceso de apropiación y desarrollo de competencias derivados de estas “ficciones populares”.
