In this article, it is stated that teaching research is an important ally, not only to think about the teaching and learning of students, but also to update and rediscover the meaning of the same profession. Thus, it seeks to answer why teacher training necessarily involves teacher learning and why research motivates their desire to learn, while contributing to the development of dispositions and skills.

Que los sistemas educativos hayan centrado su atención en los estudiantes y el aprendizaje dejó en desequilibrio la importancia de los maestros en esa misma pretensión. La relación pedagógica, el aprendizaje de los mismos docentes y la investigación parecen haberse ubicado más lejos de donde se encontraban. En este artículo se plantea que la investigación docente es una importante aliada, no solo para pensar la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de los estudiantes, sino para actualizar y re-descubrir el sentido de la misma profesión. Así, se busca responder por qué la formación docente implica necesariamente el aprendizaje del profesorado y por qué la investigación motiva su deseo por aprender, mientras contribuye al desarrollo de unas disposiciones y habilidades.
