description Since its inception, the debates around educational research rest on a series of dichotomies: practice/theory, scientific/experimental, pedagogical/"disciplinary."  These dualities have led to the discrediting of the teaching process, and the erosion of the structure of educational research. This reflection article, situated in that conflict derives from the research project "Towards the construction of a diagnosis of peace education." It argues in favor of overcoming the dichotomy educational research/social intervention analyzing the role of teachers in the classrooms as educational researchers to defeat the idea that research is somehow more valuable than social intervention, advocating for the unification of referential frameworks between intervention and research.

La investigación educativa ha transitado por una serie de dicotomías: lo teórico y lo práctico, lo científico y lo experimental; dualidades que han propiciado el descrédito del quehacer docente. Este artículo se deriva de la investigación “Hacia la construcción de un diagnóstico de educación para la paz”, situándose en dicho debate. Tomando como puntos de partida metodológica la revisión bibliográfica, los diarios de campo desde la observación participante realizada y las entrevistas recabadas, se proporcionan argumentos a favor de la superación de la dicotomía investigación educativa-intervención educativa, analizando la importancia de los docentes de escuela como investigadores; apostando por superar el descrédito de la intervención educativa frente a la investigación en los contextos escolares.
