El presente artículo tiene como propósito reflexionar sobre la curricularización de la educación ciudadana en Colombia. Abarca tres momentos: el primero es una mirada retrospectiva, desde la época republicaba, observando las propuestas gubernamentales. El segundo es una crítica a su enfoque. El tercer momento, es el aporte de la didáctica disciplinar de las ciencias sociales a través de diferentes pensamientos, para una formación ciudadana contextualizada y pertinente.
