| Summary: | The purpose of this article is to present the most important citizen mobilization around education in Bogotá, within the program Misión de Educadores y Sabiduría Ciudadana -MESC-, implemented by the Secretary of Education of Bogota between 2020 and 2021, its development and policy recommendations. The recommendations presented in this paper are the result of the discussions done by the program members, organized within thematic groups that shaped the MESC, and were based on the results of different spaces for citizen participation such as (i) a massive public consultation called “One Million Ideas for The Education of Bogota”; ii) a strategy of focus groups with the city's educational state participation system and the educational community; and iii) a review of significant pedagogical experiences from schools around the city. These scenarios had citizen participation of hundreds of thousands of people that represent a great mobilization and contribution, allowing to set up the background for framing an educational policy which improves the level of education in the city for the next years. The result of the Mission represents for Bogotá a clear route for its education public policy in the coming years and invites key players within the sector to facilitate their work for the advancement of all children and youth education that contributes to their full human development. |
