description This study aims to analyze the educational trajectories of overage youth in the context of secondary education in three district educational institutions in Bogotá. The methodology used includes a relational analysis based on various sources of information. This analytical approach seeks to understand social phenomena not as separate entities or through a list of subject characteristics, but as the result of objective and subjective relationships between the positions of agents within the analyzed social field. Thus, a subject, an object, a practice, or a discourse can only be fully understood in relation to the position it occupies within the structure and in connection with other positions that constitute it. When exploring the educational trajectories of these youngsters, certain factors were identified which influence their retention and success in school, such as economic hardship, low cultural capital, grade repetition, and changes of residence. Other barriers include lack of family support, work, stigmatization, and the lack of an educational offering that addresses their specific needs. The results suggest the need for government agencies and educational institutions to implement pedagogical support, vocational guidance, and curricular flexibility programs to improve the inclusion and academic success of these students. The barriers and opportunities that impact the academic success of overage youth highlight the need to develop effective strategies to bridge the gap between their theoretical and actual educational trajectories.

Este trabajo busca analizar las trayectorias educativas de los jóvenes en situación de extraedad en el contexto de la educación media en tres instituciones educativas distritales de Bogotá. La metodología incluye un análisis relacional a partir de distintas fuentes de información. Este enfoque analítico busca comprender los fenómenos sociales no como entes separados o mediante una lista de características de los sujetos, sino como el resultado de las relaciones objetivas y subjetivas entre las posturas de los agentes dentro del campo social analizado. De esta forma, un sujeto, un objeto, una práctica o un discurso solo puede entenderse a plenitud en relación con la posición que ocupa dentro de la estructura y en vínculo con las otras posiciones que lo constituyen. Al explorar las trayectorias educativas de estos jóvenes, se identificaron ciertos factores que influyen en su permanencia y éxito escolar, como las dificultades económicas, el bajo capital cultural, la repetición de grado y los cambios de residencia. Otras barreras son la falta de apoyo familiar, el trabajo, la estigmatización y la falta de oferta educativa que atienda a sus necesidades particulares. Los resultados sugieren la necesidad de implementar, desde las entidades gubernamentales y las instituciones educativas, programas de acompañamiento pedagógico, orientación vocacional y flexibilidad curricular para mejorar la inclusión y el éxito académico de estos estudiantes. Las barreras y oportunidades que inciden en el éxito escolar de los jóvenes en extraedad denotan la necesidad de formular estrategias efectivas para disminuir la brecha existente entre sus trayectorias educativas.
