description This article presents a systematic literature review on intercultural music education, conducted under a qualitative-interpretive paradigm, with the objective of identifying approaches, advances, and challenges in its implementation across diverse contexts. This research begins by acknowledging a persistent issue: the limited integration of cultural diversity in music education processes in both formal and non-formal settings. This omission restricts the transformative potential of music as a means of dialogue, inclusion, and belonging. Based on the analysis of 53 studies in the field of music education, four thematic axes were identified: foundations of intercultural music education, pedagogical strategies, teacher training, and methodological challenges. The thematic analysis revealed a transition from multicultural perspectives towards participatory pedagogical approaches that are sensitive to territorial contexts and committed to cultural justice. Among the findings, noteworthy experiences include collaborative work with communities, the integration of indigenous repertoires, the critical use of technologies, and the evaluation of intercultural competences through qualitative methodologies. This study concludes that it is urgent to strengthen teacher training, design contextually grounded materials, and promote inclusive educational policies that recognize the cultural and sonic richness of peoples. This review serves as a foundation for future research and pedagogical proposals grounded in local realities.

Este artículo presenta una revisión sistemática de literatura sobre educación musical intercultural, desarrollada bajo un paradigma cualitativo-interpretativo, con el objetivo de identificar enfoques, avances y desafíos en su implementación en contextos diversos. La investigación parte del reconocimiento de una problemática persistente: la escasa integración de la diversidad cultural en los procesos formativos musicales, tanto en la educación formal como en la no formal. Esta omisión limita el potencial transformador de la música como medio de diálogo, inclusión y pertenencia. A partir del análisis de 53 estudios seleccionados en el área de la educación musical, se identificaron cuatro ejes temáticos: fundamentos de la educación musical intercultural, estrategias pedagógicas, formación docente y desafíos metodológicos. El análisis temático reveló una transición desde perspectivas multiculturales hacia enfoques pedagógicos participativos, sensibles a los contextos territoriales y comprometidos con la justicia cultural. Entre los hallazgos se destacan experiencias basadas en el trabajo colaborativo con comunidades, la integración de repertorios autóctonos, el uso crítico de tecnologías y la evaluación de competencias interculturales mediante metodologías cualitativas. El estudio concluye que es urgente fortalecer la formación del profesorado, diseñar materiales contextualizados y promover políticas educativas inclusivas que reconozcan la riqueza sonora y cultural de los pueblos. Esta revisión constituye un insumo para futuras investigaciones y propuestas pedagógicas situadas.
