description Early childhood care and education is a process that continues to gain prominence in countries’ political agendas, given that research has demonstrated the importance of reducing inequality in vulnerable contexts. The objective of this work was to analyze the implementation of the preventive pedagogical strategies used by community mothers and the interdisciplinary team of the Hogares Comunitarios de Bienestar program in response to the conditions of social vulnerability in the city of Medellín’s Comuna 8. This task was approached through a multiple case study with a qualitative focus, using focus groups and semi-structured interviews. Coding, analysis, and categorization were carried out in the ATLAS.ti software, resulting in the identification of the vulnerability conditions present in the community and families; the characterization of the pedagogical strategies implemented, grouped into three types according to their intentionality: community-involvement strategies, family-involvement strategies, and strategies directed at boys and girls; and the analysis of implementation experiences based on their benefits and challenges. In conclusion, there is evidence of the normalization of risk factors present in families, as well as of the relevance of community-involvement strategies and the motivational component. Furthermore, this work calls for continued strengthening of institutional competence alongside community involvement aimed at preventing, empowering, and emancipating.

La atención y educación de la primera infancia es un proceso que sigue tomando fuerza en las agendas políticas de los países, debido a que las investigaciones han demostrado la importancia de disminuir la desigualdad en contextos vulnerables. El objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar la implementación de las estrategias pedagógicas de prevención utilizadas por las madres comunitarias y el equipo interdisciplinario del servicio Hogares Comunitarios de Bienestar frente a las condiciones de vulnerabilidad social de la Comuna 8 en Medellín. Esta tarea se abordó bajo un estudio de caso múltiple con enfoque cualitativo, a través de grupos focales entrevistas semiestructuradas. La codificación, el análisis y la categorización se realizaron en el software ATLAS.ti para la identificación de las condiciones de vulnerabilidad presentes en la comunidad y las familias; la caracterización de las estrategias pedagógicas implementadas, en tres tipos según su intencionalidad: de involucramiento comunitario, de involucramiento familiar y dirigidas a los niños y niñas; y el análisis de las experiencias de implementación desde sus beneficios y dificultades. En conclusión, se observa la naturalización de los factores de riesgo presentes en las familias y la relevancia de las estrategias de involucramiento comunitario y del factor motivacional. Este trabajo, además, hace un llamado a seguir fortaleciendo la competencia institucional de la mano con el involucramiento comunitario para prevenir, empoderar y emancipar.
