El presente artículo busca dar cuenta de la importancia de la innovación en los procesos educativos del Siglo XXI, considerándola como un proceso fundamental en la modernización y transformación de la escuela; para ello, se consideran los distintos elementos que intervienen en el desarrollo de la innovación como fenómeno que trasciende los escenarios culturales y sociales de la actualidad, desde una perspectiva comprensiva, y se señalan los inconvenientes que enfrenta en el escenario de la escuela.
