The information collected was systematized using ATLAS.ti 9 software and analyzed using the content analysis technique to generate semantic networks and word clouds that defined the conditioning factors of the student body's statements, which allowed the design, execution and pre- and post-application analysis of the aforementioned technique, called BETWEENMINES. Changes were observed with respect to the purpose of this research, evidencing a strengthening of critical thinking in relation to the understanding of sustainable development, its pillars and its connection with mining activities in the territory. |

La investigación presentada en este artículo se ha realizado en la Institución Educativa José Guillermo Castro Castro, ubicada en La Jagua de Ibirico, municipio minero carbonífero del departamento del Cesar en Colombia; dicho trabajo adoptó un enfoque cualitativo fundamentado en la investigación participativa y empleando el Aprendizaje Basado en Problemas (ABP) como técnica de sensibilización en educación ambiental, dirigida específicamente a 180 estudiantes de último grado académico para evaluar su comprensión respecto a la minería, sus impactos y su relación con los tres pilares del desarrollo sostenible. La información recolectada fue sistematizada mediante el software ATLAS.ti 9 y analizada usando la técnica de análisis de contenido para generar redes semánticas y nube de palabras que definieron condicionantes de fundamentación en los planteamientos del estudiantado, lo cual permitió el diseño, ejecución y análisis pre y post aplicación de la técnica mencionada, nombrada BETWEENMINES. Se observaron cambios con respecto al propósito de esta investigación, evidenciando un fortalecimiento del pensamiento crítico en relación con la comprensión del desarrollo sostenible, sus pilares y su conexión con las actividades mineras en el territorio.
