Shrnutí:The best-selling literature is a social and cultural phenomenon which interest educators around the world. This investigation analyzes literacy practices and learning strategies developed by the young readers in relation to these books. Starting from a qualitative approach, and using an ethnographic methodology, this  article recovers the experiences and perceptions of Bogota ́s public school students, crossing them with testimonies of mediators, like editors and teachers, to understand the process of appropriation and development of competences derived from these "popular fictions"
