description This article explores the way in which a pedagogical strategy based on the short story titled El monstruo de colores can foster emotional expression and favor educational continuity among preschool-aged boys and girls in the transition grade at a private, community-based institution located in Comuna 20, Cali, Colombia. From a qualitative perspective, a case study with ethnographic inspiration was carried out, in which interviews with teachers and participant observation were conducted as information collection techniques, together with a review of institutional documents as a complementary source. The strategy was structured around narrative, play-based, and artistic activities designed by the women teachers involved, in order to support boys and girls during their transition to primary school. The findings underscore the importance of designing context-sensitive and child-centered pedagogical activities based on a broad perspective of school transitions that tends to emotional expression needs from the early ages.

Este artículo explora la manera en que una estrategia pedagógica basada en el cuento El monstruo de colores puede fomentar la expresión de emociones y favorecer la continuidad educativa en niños y niñas del grado de transición en una institución privada de carácter comunitario ubicada en la Comuna 20 de la ciudad de Cali, Colombia. Desde una perspectiva cualitativa, se desarrolló un estudio de caso con inspiración etnográfica, en el que se llevaron a cabo entrevistas a docentes y observaciones participantes de aula como técnicas de recolección de información, junto con una revisión de documentos institucionales como fuente complementaria. La estrategia se estructuró a partir de actividades narrativas, lúdicas y artísticas diseñadas por las maestras involucradas, con el fin de acompañar a los niños y las niñas en su transición a la primaria.
